Thomas Co. qualifying begins Wednesday | News

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Political hopefuls are about to officially kick off their campaigns for July elections.

Qualifying begins on Wednesday throughout the state.

In Thomas County, Elections Supervisor Phillip Henry says he's seen the most interest for the positions of tax commissioner and coroner. "The candidate comes in and once they get their paperwork started than their candidacy has begun and they're running for office. It's the time for them to get out and meet the people and ask for their vote."

In Thomas County, qualifying opens at 9am Wednesday and closes at noon on Friday for the offices of Sheriff, Clerk of Court, Tax Commissioner, Magistrate, Solicitor General, Coroner, Commission District 2, Commission District 4, Commission District 6, Commission District 8, School Board District 2, School Board District 4, School Board District 6, Probate Judge, and State Judge.
