Milford named TU professor of the year | News
THOMASVILLE, GA - News release from Thomas University
In addition to the more than 250 students who graduated from Thomas University on Saturday, May 5, one faculty member was recognized as the Professor of the Year during Commencement – Bill Milford.
In 2003, Milford left a successful position at Yale University to join the faculty of the Social Work program at Thomas University, where he now serves as Division Chair. He also serves as Chair of the Academic Council, a position he has held for several years.
During the past two years, Milford has overseen the expansion of the Social Work program to include a cohort of students meeting at Tallahassee Community College.
The first class of this Tallahassee cohort graduated during the same Commencement on Saturday.
As one colleague wrote in nominating Milford for the award, “He takes every opportunity to improve technological resources, to find ways for students to attend professional conferences, and to show them that their actions can make a difference in their communities…
Bill not only teaches the textbook; his actions demonstrate to our students what it means to be a professional, ethical, competent social worker.”
