THOMAS COUNTY, GA - News release from Thomas University

Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present a Veterans Day Celebration on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m. in the Thomasville Center for the Arts at 600 E. Washington St. in Thomasville as part of the Sundays at Four series.

The program will feature faculty members Bill Milford, Sandra Simonds, Bonnie Woodbery, Lisa Mitchell, Karl Barton, Rebecca Fadell and Jim Amend in a program with historical perspectives of music, poetry and song from the American Revolution to the present in tribute to all those who have served their country.

The script for the program has been carefully crafted by Woodbery, who said, “We selected both commemorative poems like ‘In Flanders Fields’ and lighter popular songs like ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B’ and ‘When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again’ along with patriotic standards like the ‘The Star Bangled Banner’ and Sousa's ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever.’”

“We put together a great salute to the Armed Forces and hope that everyone comes out to join us in celebrating our veterans,” Woodbery continued.

The concert is free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 per person. A reception will follow the performance.
